Venus and Jupiter This Morning, August 1, 2012

Morning Stars Venus and Jupiter shine through broken skies in this 30-second image made at 4:05 a.m. CDT in the Chicago area. The two planets continue to dominate the morning eastern skies as August opens. Notice that Jupiter is near Aldebaran, the brightest star in Taurus. The Hyades star cluster is nearby. The Pleiades star cluster shines above Jupiter.

Watch the planetary pair in the morning sky throughout this month. Read more about Venus as a Morning Star.  For our monthly sky watching posting, click here.  (Click the image to see it larger.)
