Venus and Jupiter This Morning, July 7, 2012

Venus and Jupiter shine in the east as Morning Stars at 4:05 a.m.  in the predawn sky from the Chicago area, along with a waning gibbous moon in the southern sky.  Jupiter is above Venus in this view.  Watch the pair in the morning sky throughout this month. Read more about Venus as a Morning Star.  For our monthly sky watching posting, click here.  (Click the image to see it larger.)

I’m looking at this fantastic morning view right now. Is that a star just below Venus? It sure does look like a planet!
